The core aim of education is to foster holistic development of a children and make their lives skilful.



Holistic development essentially means
intellectual, physical, moral, sensible psychological and social development.
At Shishu Niketan 43, there is an equilibrium between the Scholastic and Co Scholastic areas of the Curriculum.

House System

The school students are divided (from class IIIrd onwards) into subunits called 'Houses' and each student is allocated to one house at the time of enrolment. Houses compete with one another in various aspects of daily school life like Discipline, Academic Performance, Social Initiative, Co-curricular Activities and Sports, thus providing a focus for group loyalty.

Each student of Classes III – X is allocated one house at the time of admission. Inter House competitions spread through out the year provide students the opportunities to learn skills beyond academics. The students learn to compete, develop and evaluate themselves and exhibit their talent. The four Houses of the School are -

Besides the Inter House Competitions the students also participate in Inter School Competitions in Basket Ball, Badminton, Cricket, Football, Taekwondo. They also participate in most of the other competitions like Debate, Painting, Quiz, Dance, MUN, Computer Quests, Singing etc.

SPORTS


Physical activity is an essential component of a Shishuhite’s life. The school firmly believes in the value of competitive sport and all pupils are encouraged to pursue sports. The School has Basketball and Badminton courts, practice pitch for Cricket and Football practice area. Action begins early morning at 7am where specialised training is imparted to students in various sports and carries on till late evening. Inter House competition in different sports further enhances the competitive spirit, discipline and perseverance in students.

SCHOOL ELECTIONS


Through a Democratic process, The School Head Girl and Head Boy are elected. Besides this each House elects its House Captain and House Vice Captain. The School Prefects and Discipline In-charges are also elected through voting by the students.

TAEKWONDO -MARTIAL ARTS


At SNPS Taekwondo is compulsory and every child is trained both in team games and as individual pursuits, within the school time-table. Through Martial Arts each child is expected to enhance his/her self-esteem, build confidence, develop discipline, learn self- defence and strengthen mind, body and become fit and healthy.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY


The newly elected School Council formally takes charge in an Investiture ceremony. The Old council hands over the charge to the newly elected Council. The new council members take an Oath to take over their duties diligently

CELEBRATIONS


India is a land of festivals and what better way it would be to explain students the concept of secularism. At Shishu Niketan, Children are involved in preparing and presenting assemblies with the festival themes. This goes as learning about the festival and and celebration in itself. The national festivals are also celebrated to develop in students the duty, responsibility and above all love for the country
